Born in 1956, Glasgow, Scotland. Studied Fine Art at Dundee University, 1974-1978.
Continued with a postgraduate year, 1978-79.
Awarded with a British Council Scholarship, to work and study in Budapest, Hungary, 1979-80. Awarded two Elizabeth Greenshield Scholarships Montreal, Canada, 1980/81 and 1985/86.
Worked for Felix Rosenstiel’s Fine Art Publishers, London, 1987-89. Artwork published by Rosenstiel’s, Medici and Parnassus. Artist in Residence at the Grizedale society, Lakeland, Cumbria, 1993-94. Artist in Residence, Farringdon Society of Arts, Devon 2006-07.

Currently working out of The Garden Gallery, Exeter, Devon.
Alasdair spends much of his time sketching and painting in nature. He is often seen clambering the cliffs of the south west coastline, and along local rivers and estuaries.
His love for wildlife and nature is translated into artworks, like 'Tuching Timber'. which is on loan at the Grizedale Visitors Centre, in the English Lakelands.
